In June 2025, the joint board stepped down from its governance role. The decision to step down supported the long-term vision for each school to have its own board, reflecting the unique character and needs of Halswell and Westbridge.

To support this transition, a commissioner has been appointed to oversee both schools.  Dr. Gabrielle Wall took up this role in June 2025. Dr. Wall brings valuable experience and a strong understanding of both schools and communities.

This is a positive step forward. Dr. Wall is working closely with the Ministry of Education and both school communities to ensure a smooth transition and continued progress toward independent governance for each school.​
